Do you realise that every day you have to make literally thousands of choices?
In our Home Group we are studying Neil Anderson’s book “Victory over the Darkness” with the accompanying study “Breaking through to Spiritual Maturity”. One of the themes of that study is knowing your identity ‘In Christ’. For us to know that identity we first must understand God’s original intention for humanity in creation, his design for completeness that was lost at the ‘Fall’ when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve.
This is where ‘choices’ comes in. Adam and Eve enjoyed a perfect relationship with God in the perfect environment, a place where we are told “they walked with God”. Adam and Eve had the opportunity to make choices every day, there were no wrong choices they could make except for one, God told them not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge. That was only bad choice they could make, and guess what? ……….. Look at the result , Adam speaking to God after eating from the tree says, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid” (Genesis 3:10) as a result of one bad choice, shame became part of humanity, as we read on we see guilt, blame, separation, loss of acceptance and so on become part of human life. All because of one bad choice!
Now we have to make hundreds of choices daily, unlike Adam and Eve, each one can be a right choice or a wrong choice, and we will make some wrong ones, we need not suffer the shame, guilty and so on that Adam experienced. Jesus came to restore what was lost and because of His sacrifice, we are restored in God’s eyes to what was originally intended at creation. Saints the Bible calls us, Children of God, joint heirs with Jesus. Now we are redeemed significant people, seen by God to be people of great worth and of great value, so great that He died to save us.
As I reflect on God’s goodness, on His saving grace, I think it helps me be more mindful of making correct choices, because wrong choices hurts the one who has given me so much and has done so much for me.
I hope you think the same.
God bless
Blair

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.
The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee."
The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee."
Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee."
Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me."
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says.........."HEBREWS"
